Director - William Newell
William Newell most recently worked on Bernard Marie-Koltes’ Roberto Zucco at the Contact Theatre, Manchester, a play that helped determine William’s directorial style. Working alongside Lizzie Nurse as set and lighting designer, a world of dense claustrophobia, was created confining the audience to the world of the play. Lizzie and William are teaming up again for Three Bar Solo to bring alive the dramatic possibilities of this unique and surreal world. William trained at Manchester University where he began to first experiment with blending music and sound with drama. With Roberto Zucco William, along with the electro-acoustic composer, Josh Kopecek, compiled an experimental score to which the drama of Koltes’ play was set. A similar aesthetic feel can be expected from Three Bar Solo.
William also won the awards for “Best Director” and “Best Production” for his production of David Mamet’s “American Buffalo” at the In-Fringe Manchester Drama Festival 2003.
Script - Ted Moore
Ted’s recent plays, The Fishpond and Greengold were both presented at “Startwrite” at the Contact Theatre, Manchester. More recently his play Greyhound goes to Hollywood was premiered at Jabez Clegg, Manchester. He has recently finished a post-graduate diploma in Writing for Performance.
